Betting odds converter
The betting odds converter converts betting odds between Fractional Odds, Decimal Odds, and American odds (Moneyline).
What are betting odds?
The betting odds provide the ratio between the winning and the wager.
For example, if the odds are 5/2, for wager of $2, if you win you will win $5. In this case, the payment is $7, the wager ($2) plus the winning (5$).
What is the difference between odds and betting odds?
In statistics odds are chances, similar to probabilities, while betting odds represent ratio between amounts.
If you know the betting odds you may calculate the winning probability that yield average of zero wining/losing amount. This is the implied Probability.
Different odds format
Fractional odds - the format is winning/wager, like in the above example 5/2 Decimal odds - the ratio between the payout and the wager.
American odds
Winning > wager: the percentage of the winning related to the wager. 100 * winning/wager=250.
Winning < wager: the percentage of the wager related to the winning, with a negative sign.
e.g wager ($5) winning ($2).
-100 * wager/winning = -250.
Implied Probability - if the winning probability will be equal to the implied probability, then the average winning amount will be zero.
Example: if the odds are 3/1 (winning ($3), wager ($1), payment ($4)), then if the probability to win is 0.25:
p*payment - wager = 0.
0.25 * $4 - $1 = 0.
